We're gauging interest and availability for a half-day conference on high school writing centers that will be held at UConn's Hartford Campus.
Intrigued about the benefits of starting a peer writing center in your school? Or do you already have a writing center but want more opportunities for your tutors to build skills and learn from others? If so, consider attending the first ever Secondary School Writing Centers Conference in Hartford. Peer writing centers have been gaining momentum in middle and high schools across the country (http://sswca.org), and Eastern Connecticut has had a thriving annual conference going for more than a decade (https://writingcenter.uconn.edu/high-school-outreach/). We now want to bring a similar conference for Hartford. Teachers can bring a team of up to 8 middle or high school tutors or prospective tutors to see what other schools with thriving writing centers are doing and participate in workshops. This event will take place at UConn’s Hartford campus and be free, but space is limited. Schools that offer UConn ECE courses (or that wish to in the future) are particularly encouraged to attend.
