Assigned readings should be multivalent and complex, allowing for diverse uses and interpretations. Literary texts are productive for FYW when they open a space for the careful consideration of writing and the representation of ideas.
Assigned readings should be in conversation with one another. Writing assignments should prompt students to intervene in and contribute to those conversations.
How do we critically evaluate sources? How do we do thorough research across a wide range of platforms? How do we credit and situate our work in relation to our sources?
