ECE English Course Changes

Revisions to UConn's First-Year Writing course (including the merging of ENGL 1010 and 1011 into a single course) are coming to ECE in the next couple of years (not before 2021-22). This form is a tool for learning more about the scheduling implications of this transition. Thank you for participating.

  • Possible Futures for ECE English

  • The literature course would NOT count as a student's FYW requirement. It would likely transfer as a 3-credit introduction to literature course.
  • Currently, UConn students take FYW prior to other courses in the ENGL department. We could potentially develop a course that would not need that prerequisite and could therefore precede FYW. It could not count as a FYW course or a writing-intensive (W) course. But it would have literature as its focus.
